It was a cold, dark Halloween night. All the kids were with their friends outside trick or treating. All the houses were decorated with pumpkins, ghosts and scarecrows. Every house in the neighborhood was visited no more than ten minutes after it got dark. Most parents were ready for Halloween. All of the parents had gotten candy from the store, all of them but one.

There was one lady that didn’t think that kids should be allowed to knock on people’s doors and beg for candy. She decided to hand out toothbrushes instead. She would give it to a kid, and then the kid would take it and throw it somewhere. The lady noticed this was happening so, quickly, she went to her kitchen and got the few packs of candy she had. She opened them, and tried one. They were disgusting. Just then, the doorbell wrung. “More greedy kids that want candy”, she thought. Suddenly, she had an idea. She was going to make a mask to scare the kids away.

10 minutes later, she was done. There was a knock on the door. The old lady took out her mask and pushed it on to her head. She opened the door and expected the kids to scream. “That mask looks funny!”, a little boy wearing a werewolf costume said. The old lady got so mad, she slammed the door on the kid. Then, she had a new idea! she would take the candy she had and put random stuff around her house inside the candy. She took lots of shampoo, some rotten apples and some sugar. She put it all in a bowl and started mixing it around with a spoon. Then, she put it in the microwave for 10 seconds.

When it was done, the old lady stared at what was in the bowl. It was bright blue. She looked away for a second, then looked back at the bowl. Now it was yellow! Then, a few seconds later it turned red. She took the candy wrapper with all the candy inside, and dropped in a bit of her potion. Meanwhile, there was a kid knocking on the door. The lady ran to the door and opened it. “Trick or treat!” The kid shouted. He took the candy and ran off.

Five minutes later, the lady heard screaming outside. “It’s a monster!”, “It’s a zombie!”, “Run for your life!”.

“My potion worked! That will teach them a lesson!” said the lady. She watched what was happening through her kitchen window. The streets were empty now, except for one person. The lady guessed that it was the monster. The monster was hiding behind some bushes waiting for a kid to come. Just then, a girl dressed in a princess costume walked by, and was heading towards the zombie. “I guess everyone has gone home.”, she said. The lady knew that the princess was going to get eaten by the monster she created. She knew she had to stop it.

The lady took out the rest of her potion outside and ran towards the monster. The monster didn’t see her, it was too busy thinking about eating the princess. Then, the lady ran towards the monster and threw the potion at the monster’s mouth just in time. Five seconds later, the monster was now turned back into the little boy which was dressed in a ghost costume. The girl noticed that there had been a monster, and she ran away screaming. Just then, all the little kids that were watching what happened with the monster and the lady started cheering. “She saved us all!”, “We were all going to die!” said a few kids.

The lady was so happy that never again, would she hand out toothbrushes or potions that turned kids into monster. She only handed out regular candy!

The end.
